Hexar Humancare Co., Ltd. (CEO Han Chang-soo www.hexarhc.com) was formed in the Robot Engineering laboratory at Hanyang University. He conducted research on wearable robots for the first time in Korea based on robot technology.

He started a research lab in the name of Hexar Humancare in July 2016. It aimed to realize the dream of creating more amazing opportunities by using R&D capabilities and robot technology to complement human physical weakness, that is, by enhancing human muscle strength and power to increase movements and activities.

In 2011, a company called Hexar Systems started research on wearable robots. As the business area expanded, a separate corporation called Hexar Humancare was established to specialize in rehabilitation robots. The company established a systematic product lineup during the past five years and announced its full-scale entry into the rehabilitation robot market.

Hexar CEO Han Chang-soo is a first-generation robotics engineer in Korea who received a doctor’s degree in robotics from the University of Texas at Austin. He retired as a professor at Hanyang University at the end of last year and began his business career in full swing starting this year. He also recruited an executive who was in charge of robot sales at a large Korean conglomerate as vice president of sales to reinforce the sales division. By doing so, he completed preparations for entering the market.

On October 18, we met with CEO Han Chang-soo at the Hexar Humancare head office located in the Industry-University Cooperation Building of Hanyang University’s ERICA campus in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. We learned about the story of the product lineup, future vision, and rehabilitation robot.
